Rape Response has been around for 21 years. Terri Strayhorn has been Executive Director for 19 of them.
But she said she'll be stepping down by the end of March.
The group, though, will continue helping sexual assault victims.
"And provide them with that support and that information that they need to get through what is, very often, a difficult time," said Strayhorn.
Rape Response covers the five-county area of Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Habersham and Hall Counties.
It started by covering just Hall and part of Habersham, but has grown over the past 21 years.
And through those years, Strayhorn said providing assistance for sexual assault victims, as well as educating the public about the issue, has been rewarding.
"It was a dream job. It's been a mission. And the people that I've worked with, from the very beginning, have been very, very special," said Strayhorn.
Rape Response is starting its search for the next executive director, according to Strayhorn, and will be taking applications soon.
