GAINESVILLE - Looking for a different way to welcome the New Year? How about a plunge into the ice cold waters of Lake Lanier? Along with a number of other people?

That's what the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club hopes at least 200 people will be doing Friday afternoon at the Olympic Venue at Clarks Bridge Park.

This will be the 13th year for the club's Polar Bear Swim which is one of it's key fund raiser each year.

Club officials are hoping at least 200 people show up this year for the 2:00 jump into the water.
