SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Quarterback Jimmy Clausen and his favorite receiver, Golden Tate, will bypass their senior seasons at Notre Dame and enter the NFL draft.

The school announced the player's decisions Monday before a new conference was held on campus.

Clausen told ESPN.com he made his decision after talking Friday with fired coach Charlie Weis and with his parents.

The most highly touted recruit during to come to Notre Dame during Weis' tenure, Clausen started 34 games and posted a 16-18 record. But he blossomed this season, finishing second in the country in passer rating with 3,722 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Tate, a former running back converted by Weis to receiver, had 93 catches for 1,496 yard and scored 18 touchdowns this season.
