Horses pose traffic hazard

GILLSVILLE - One horse was hit by a car and killed Monday night, and two horses have been reported still loose in the area of Gillsville Highway and Joe Parker Road in East Hall, according to Hall County Animal Services. And, officials warn that for their own safety, motorists and property owners should be on the lookout for the animals. <br /> <br /> Animal Services Director Mike Ledford said one horse was killed on Gillsville Highway Monday night whe it was hit by a car. The occupants of the vehicle were unharmed. However, a 1,200-pound horse is a serious traffic hazard, Ledford said. In May 2009, a man was killed when his car struck a horse on US 129 near Gaines Mill Road.
