Hartsfield dips below freezing; 26 recorded in Gainesville

ATLANTA - Temperatures dropped below freezing Sunday for the first time this season at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport while in Gainesville the temperature bottomed-out at 26.

The mercury dipped down to 27 degrees Sunday morning at the Atlanta airport, the coldest air so far this season.

Hartsfield is known as Atlanta's "official thermometer."

Before Sunday, Hartsfield's coldest reported temperature this season was 33 degrees recorded on both Nov. 27 and Dec. 1.

In northeast Georgia, representative low readings included 26 at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville, 22 in Dahlonega, 24 in Winder and 15 in Young Harris.
