GAINESVILLE - Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner and already Hall County school officials are beginning to plan for next year - scheduling a series of meetings early next month for students interested in attending the DaVinci Academy (DVA).

School officials say although a significant percentage of DVA students have been identified as gifted, that is not a prerequisite for admission. The DVA is for middle school students who are "passionate about the arts, sciences and technology; students who are goal oriented and highly motivated to learn; students who work well independently and in small groups; students who are highly creative and who thrive in a hands-on learning environment. "

A series of five meetings will held beginning Monday December 7 at which the DaVinci Academy concept will be explained for potential students and their parents.

Monday, Dec. 7, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the DaVinci Academy, 3215 Poplar Springs Rd.
Tuesday, Dec. 8, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the DaVinci Academy
Thursday, Dec. 10, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the DaVinci Academy
Thursday, Dec. 10, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Hall County Schools Central Office, 711 Green St.
Monday, Dec. 14, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the DaVinci Academy

Target audience: Parents of Hall County students who will be in the 6th, 7th or 8th grades in the 2010-2011 school year and who are interested in having their children attend the DVA.

Registration: Space is limited so parents must register for one of the sessions by calling or e-mailing Mrs. Cris Price at DVA ([email protected] or 770-533-4004). If we cannot accommodate all interested parents in these 5 sessions, I will schedule others.
