Georgia's top 'water war' lawyer stepping down

ATLANTA - There has been a change in lawyers in the state's appeal of a federal judge's ruling over access to water in Lake Lanier.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Tuesday that the man tapped by Governor Perdue to lead the appeal has stepped down because of a potential conflict of interest.

Former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement is leaving the position because he was once "attorney of record" for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - another party in the case.

The AJC reports that he's been replaced by Seth Waxman, another former U.S. Solicitor General.
