It involves the U.S. Marine Corps League, United Way of Hall County and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Leadership Hall County group.
Plans for the joint effort were unveiled at a news conference at chamber of commerce headquarters Monday which included a visit from Santa.
The Toys for Tots goal this year is to collect and distribute 6,000 toys to the less fortunate in the community.
Over 150 donation boxes are located throughout Gainesville and Hall County (including the United Way and chamber of commerce offices) and will be available for drop offs through December 14.
Donated toys should be new, unwrapped and for children ages infant to 15 years. Toys from the drive will be distributed to Friends of Recovery, Gateway Domestic Violence Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County, Hall County Foster Kids, and The Salvation Army.
Visit United Way's website, unitedwayhallcounty.org, for more information on the toy drive, specific drop locations and suggested toys to purchase.
