GAINESVILLE - Downtown Gainesville comes alive Thursday night with the sights and sounds of the season as Main Street Gainesville kicks off the holiday season with Downtown's Jingle Mingle.

From 5:00 until 8:00 there will be open houses at shops and restaurants along with food, wine tasting, carriage rides, and of course, Santa.

It will be held in conjunction with the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours. Chamber members and guests check in at Frames You-Nique, 104 Main Street to begin the event. Cost is $5 for Greater Hall Chamber Members and $15 for non-members.

Also, between now and Christmas Main Street Gainesville will host a Downtown Open House, Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5, during normal business hours, featuring food and special events, including carriage rides, and, on Saturday, a visit from Santa. And, on the following two Saturdays, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, Main Street Market, will host Mingle with Kringle. In addition, on the 19th, Main Street Gainesville will host Celebration of the Season on the Square. It will also feature carriage rides and Santa Claus but also, and at no charge, music, drama and special guests on stage on the square.
