Upon arrival Fire Department, personnel found the two story building about 30 percent involved, with flames showing through the roof. Newberry said the homeowner advised he had a wood heater operating in the building before he left the building around 10:00 AM. He advised just before noon a relative called to advise the building had heavy smoke and flames coming from it. The structure collapsed shortly after fire units arrived. Firefighters remained on scene until 2:29pm. Also assisting with the blaze was the Cleveland Fire Department and Georgia Department of Corrections Lee Arrendale Fire Station 2.
Newberry said  as normal procedure White County Fire investigator Robi Wilkins was called to investigate.  At this time, the fire is deemed not suspicious, but under investigation.
