Ga. school placed on lockdown after shooting

HAPEVILLE - Police say Hapeville Elementary School was placed on lockdown Monday morning after a shooting nearby.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Hapeville police dispatchers say a man was shot at about 7:45 a.m. at an apartment complex in the south Fulton County city. They say the victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment of gunshot wounds to the stomach and leg. His condition was not immediately available.

Dispatchers said Hapeville Elementary was put on lockdown while police searched for the gunman.
