Volleyball: North Hall shocks Baldwin in opening round

MILEDGEVILLE - The North Hall girls volleyball team looked sharp in taking an upset win over Baldwin Saturday in the first round of the Class AAA state tournament.

The Lady Trojans, who were the third seed out of Area 7-AAA, took down the second seed from Area 3-AAA in three straight games, 25-12, 25-15, 25-11, in a best-of-five match.

Kathryn Bell had a solid game with 24 assists, two kills, and two aces and set up big hitters Evann Rowland and Lauren Gregory. Rowland finished with 13 kills, four digs, and two aces and Lauren Gregory had six kills, one dig, and one ace for North Hall.

Anna Marchman had six kills and Lindsey Wright had three aces to go with a seven-point service run for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall advances to the Sweet 16 against a yet to be determined opponent. the Sweet 16 round will begin on Tuesday.
