MURRAYVILLE - North Hall and Johnson survived last second fireworks to win a pair of instant classics Friday night in prep football action.

North Hall scored with just over a minute left to take the lead on Class AAA seventh-ranked Flowery Branch and then watched as the Falcons missed a field goal as time ran out in a 37-34 win at The Brickyard.

Johnson scored with five minutes left and then survived a final drive by West Hall to get a 49-45 win in The Battle of Oakwood. The Spartans failed on two pass attempts into the end zone in the final 20 seconds.

Those two games highlighted what was another showcase for offenses around Hall County and northeast Georgia.

Class AAA No. 1 Gainesville had its biggest output of the year in a 63-0 thumping of East Hall while Class AA fourth-ranked Buford whipped Cross Keys 65-0 in Tom Riden Stadium.

After falling behind 14-7 in the first quarter, Creekview outscored White County 35-7 the rest of the way to rally for a 42-21 win in Cleveland.

Class AAAAA No. 3 North Gwinnett used a huge second half to pull away for a 54-23 win over Chattahoochee while Lakeview Academy was on the wrong end of an offensive show by Social Circle in a 48-7 loss on the road.

Habersham Central was shutout in the first half and used a 13-0 second against Class AAAA No. 9 Apalachee but the Raiders came up 20 yards short in a late rally in a 21-13 loss in Region 8-AAAA action.
