White Co. commissioners suspend building permit fees

CLEVELAND - The White County Board of Commissioners has voted to suspend county building permit fees in an effort to stimulate construction activities in the county.

At Monday's meeting Commissioner Joe Campbell proposed the fee suspension until January.  The vote by the board was unanimous. Commission Chairman Travis Turner said they aren't receiving funds now since construction is at a standstill so they have nothing to lose.  

The fee suspension covers both residential and commercial construction. Turner said they will be exploring other avenues to help get construction activities moving again. Turner said you still must apply for a building permit, but there will be no county fees collected.
