GAINESVILLE - Region 7-AAA softball teams ready to get going in their quest for a spot in next week's state tournament will have to wait one more day for the region tournament to get under way at Lanier Pointe Softball Complex.

Rains washed out Monday's opening round, which was scheduled to have six games. Monday's action has been moved to Tuesday and each day's action the next three days has also been pushed back one day.

The four-day event was scheduled to end Thursday but is now slated to end Friday.

The tournament is a double-elimination format with the top four teams advancing to the state tournament. The new format has the top 10 teams in the 13-team region qualifying for the tournament. In years past all 13 teams took part in the tournament.

Creekview is the top seed with West Forsyth second, West Hall third, and White County fourth.
