LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County Police have now identified the man and woman found shot to death Saturday night in a rural area of Buford.

Authorities said the bodies of 67-year-old Margie Gibbs of Columbus and 53-year-old Jimmy Watts of Tiger were spotted by a passing motorist on West Rock Quarry Road.

"At this point we don't know what prompted the shooting or if there's anybody else involved," said Cpl. David Schiralli with the Gwinnett Police Department.

Schiralli said an official ruling of the incident will be announced after the Medical Examiner has completed the autopsies of both victims.

Officials said Watts, a white male, was dead at the scene. Gibbs, a black female, was alive when authorities arrived but died a short time after being transported to Gwinnett Medical Center.
