GAINESVILLE - Two Gainesville High School students, sophomore John Jennings and junior Kelly Mattick, got to meet former President Jimmy Carter over the weekend.

They were in Plains for the town's annual peanut festival after winning the "Plains, Peanuts and a President" postcard contest, sponsored by the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site Education Program and the Peanut Institute.

Jennings was the second place winner for 10th graders and Mattick first place for 11th graders. The former president presented each with their award.
