GAINESVILLE - For the first time in several months, a new subdivision is in the works in Hall County.

It would be located in the Chestnut Mountain area on 43 acres on Union Church Road near Oak Farm Way. Plans call for a single-family neighborhood with a day care center and/or an age-restricted subdivision.

It's been unusual for such developments to be proposed in the county in recent months because of the downturn in housing.

The Hall County Planning Commission will consider Rochester & Associates' request to rezone the property from Agricultural-Residential Three (AR-III) to Planned Residential Development (PRD) when it meets Oct. 6.

Also on the agenda are a rezoning application from HMR Partnership for another Chestnut Mountain area tract - 35 acres on Old Winder Highway near Union Church Road. An office/warehouse and retail sales complex is planned there.

Planners will also consider a request for the rezoning of 20 acres in East Hall, on Joe Parker Road near Gillsville Highway. APM Properties, LLC wants to locate a special events facility with outdoor recreation area on the site, according to the planning commission agenda.
