BUFORD -- The No. 1 ranked Buford softball team blanked Region 6-AA necomers -- and defending Class AAA champion -- Blessed Trinity 4-0 on Tuesday in Buford.

The Lady Wolves (15-2, 3-0 Region 6-AA) -- the only unbeaten team in 6-AA play -- jumped on Blessed Trinity early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning before adding another run in the fifth.

Meanwhile, Buford pitcher Melissa Dickie (6-1) dazzled Blessed Trinity's offense, pitching a complete-game shutout with two hits and seven strikeouts. Dickie allowed just five runners past first base and allowed no hits after the third inning.

The Lady Wolves offense didn't rack up many hits either but made the most of their five base knocks.

Junior Alysha Rudnik led Buford at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs, and a run scored. Freshman Kallie Case also went 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.

The Lady Wolves will start play in the Brookwood Invitational tournament on Wednesday. Buford will play Brookwood (Region 8-AAAAA) at 5:55 p.m. at Brookwood High School.
