Moreno named SEC's Player of the Week

ATHENS -- University of Georgia redshirt sophomore tailback Knowshon Moreno has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office on Monday.

Moreno, a 5-11, 208-pound native of Belford, N.J., recorded a season-high 168 rushing yards on 18 carries for three touchdowns during Georgia's 56-17 rout over Central Michigan. This was Moreno's seventh 100-yard rushing game. In addition to averaging 9.3 yards per carry, Moreno also tallied three catches for 30 yards.

This was the second week in a row that Moreno scored three touchdowns and that the Bulldog offense piled up more than 500 yards of total offense.

Through two games, Moreno is tied for second in the nation in scoring in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) with 36 points. He is also second in the SEC with an average of 113.5 yards per game.

The No. 2 Bulldogs travel to Columbia, S.C., to face South Carolina in their SEC opener on Saturday, Sept 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
