Softball: Dickie tosses two-hitter to lead Buford past Dacula (8/21)

SUWANEE -- Melissa Dickie tossed a two-hit shutout Thursday to lead the Buford girls softball team to a 1-0 win over Dacula in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational Tournament at North Gwinnett High School.

The defending Class AA state champion Lady Wolves (1-1) scored their only run in the bottom of first inning when sophomore Karly Fullem drew a bases loaded, two-out walk to score sophomore Chelsie Thomas.

Junior Samantha Ramey led Buford at the plate with two hits. Whitney Holman, Thomas, Alysha Rudnik, Kallie Case, and Lexi Overstreet each had one hit for the Lady Wolves.

Dickie just a first inning hit and a fourth inning hit to the Lady Falcons. Buford will play Northside, Columbus Friday at North Gwinnett.
