3 NE Ga. counties among country's 25 fastest growing

ATLANTA - Jackson and Barrow counties are among the 25 fastest growing counties in the country last year.

In all, there are 23 Georgia counties on the list of 100 fastest growing, with Paulding County third on the list.

The Census estimates are based on July 2007 housing unit estimates. Paulding County had roughly 50,328 housing units in July 2007, a 72.1 percent increase from April 2000.

Henry County was sixth with 71,280 housing units up 65.1 percent, and Forsyth County was seventh. There, housing units increased 64.7 percent, from 36,505 in April 2000 to 60,140.

Also in the Top 25 were Newton, Fannin, Cherokee, Barrow and Jackson counties.
Nationwide, housing units increased 10.4 percent between 2000 and 2007.
