The $1,000 scholarship will become an annual scholarship presented to a rising high school senior who volunteers in a GHA hospital and desires a career in health care.
Mancin began volunteering at NGMC in 2004 as a rising ninth grade student. During her five years as a volunteer, she provided more than 500 hours of service. She received the United Way of Hall County Heart of Gold Award for her volunteer service in 2007. This year, she received the President's Volunteer Service Award from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, an award only given to one person per state; the Andrew J. Dockery Teen Volunteer of the Year Award, presented on behalf of The Medical Center Auxiliary; and was the winner of the T-shirt contest for the 2008 NGMC teen volunteers.
"Jenny is an outstanding young lady who has been an excellent volunteer over the past five summers," said Lynne Allen, director of Volunteer Services at NGMC. "We are so proud of all her accomplishments and think it is a true honor that the Georgia Hospital Association chose to honor her with this scholarship."
Mancin recently graduated from North Hall High School and plans to attend North Georgia College and State University in the fall to pursue a nursing degree.
