ATLANTA - Every county in the Gainesville area is reporting an increase in their unemployment rate.

The increases range from .4 percent in Banks and White to 1.4 percent in Lumpkin.

But for most, they were a fraction of a percent - such as the .5 percent in Gwinnett and .6 percent in Hall. The new Gwinnett rate is 5.4 percent, compared to 5.3 in Hall.

The jobless rate in Banks County is now 4.4 percent; in White, it is 5.1. The Lumpkin County rate is now 7.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.7 percent from May to June, but it was up 1.3 percent from 4.4 percent in June 2007. The current adjusted state rate, which is two-tenths of one percent higher than the U.S. seasonally-adjusted rate of 5.5 percent, continued to top the national rate for the past five months.
