GAINESVILLE - Dianne Appling, program coordinator for Lifeline of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC), received the Exceptional Performance Award recently from Philips Lifeline at their headquarters in Framingham, Mass., as part of their Academy program.

"The Philips Lifeline Academy, established in 2001, represents a membership of our best 150 community partners out of 2,500 nationwide who continue to demonstrate an extra-ordinary level of commitment to helping more seniors and their families benefit from Lifeline while at the same time serving the goals of their organization to live its mission successfully," said Ronald Feinstein, CEO Philips Lifeline, Executive VP Consumer Healthcare Solutions.

"The Exceptional Performance Award is given to a small number of Philips Lifeline Academy participants for recognition of their outstanding work serving their communities. Appling has demonstrated a clear planned approach to building key referring relations to get Lifeline in the hands of a greater number of seniors," Feinstein said.

"It is an honor to be recognized in this very special way," Appling said.

The NGMC Lifeline program was established in 1984 and since then has helped over 2,000 seniors live more safely in their own homes. Today, calls to NGMC's Lifeline service are received not only from health and social services professionals but also from the adult children and families of seniors seeking ways to reduce the care-taking.

The Lifeline service provides immediate help for subscribers 24 hours per day, 365 days per year at the simple touch of a lightweight, waterproof button worn around the wrist or as a pendant. The service is provided for $45 per month with a one-time professional installation fee of $95, but during the months of July and August, Lifeline of NGMC is offering free installations. Lifeline of NGMC serves subscribers in Hall, White, Lumpkin, Dawson, Forsyth, Stephens, Rabun, Towns, Union, Banks, Jackson, Habersham and Barrow counties. Participants are not required to sign a long-term contract.

Founded in 1974, Philips Lifeline of Framingham, Mass., is the largest personal response service in North America. The company has helped over five million at-risk seniors and their families gain added peace of mind.
