Team U.S.A. swimming and diving has decidedly Georgia feel

ATHENS - Former University of Georgia diver Chris Colwill will compete in two events in the Beijing Olympics.

Colwill, who was named Monday to compete in the 3-meter springboard and the synchronized 3-meter, adds to the list of Georgia swimmers, divers and coaches in the Olympics.

Georgia diving coach Dan Laak was named Monday to serve as an assistant coach. Georgia coach Jack Bauerle is the head coach of the U.S. women's swimming team.

Colwill joins Georgia swimmers Gil Stovall and Allison Schmitt on the U.S. teams. Sebastien Rouault will compete for France, and Neil Versfeld, Troyden Prinsloo and Wendy Trott will swim for South Africa.

Former Georgia swimmer Sheila Taormina will compete in the modern pentathlon.
