CUMMING - Former longtime Forsyth County Commissioner James Harrington has died at the age of 82.

Harrington was also a former member of the Roswell City Council and was on the state Board of Technical Schools. He was also one of the original Lanier Technical College Board of Directors.

In May at the groundbreaking for an addition to the Lanier Tech campus in Forsyth County, the existing Lanier Tech building was named in honor of Harrington, who was instrumental in the establishment of the Lanier Tech campus in Forsyth County.

After the surprise announcement, Harrington declared that he was "flabbergasted by the honor."

Harrington, who died Saturday, owned and operated Forsyth Industries in Cumming. He also donated land to help establish Amicalola Falls State Park.

The funeral will be Tuesday at Cumming Baptist Church. See complete obituary on the Obituaries page of this Web site.)
