ALPHARETTA - The Jefferson 12-year-old All-Stars beat arch-rival Commerce 7-5 on Wednesday night at the Dizzy Dean State state baseball tournament in Alpharetta. The win placed the Dragons (15-6) in the final six of the tournament and eliminated the Tigers, who reached the elite eight.

Dragon pitchers Robert Hayes and Jace McColskey allowed only two Commerce hits on the night and struck out 15 batters over six innings. Cole Edwards led Jefferson batters going 2-for-2 with a walk.

Commerce outfielder George Fernandez led the way for the Tigers with a two-run home run in the third inning.

Jefferson faces the winner of the Rome vs. Wills Park game on Thursday night, with the winner advancing to the Final Four.
