Georgia PSC, SCANA settle variable rate dispute

ATLANTA - SCANA Energy has agreed to give credits worth $1.25 million to customers, ending a dispute with the Georgia Public Service Commission over its variable-rate plans. <br /> <br /> SCANA and Georgia Natural Gas were investigated by the PSC staff after some customers complained they were misled and wound up being charged a higher amount than others for a standard variable-rate plan. <br /> <br /> GNG agreed in March to issue credits to affected customers. SCANA rejected the settlement offer, saying its actions did not violate state rules. <br /> <br /> Under the settlement, affected SCANA customers who apply will receive credits of up to $25, with the amount paid by the company capped at $1.25 million.
