Korean church in Suwanee vandalized

Posted 4:22PM on Monday 16th June 2008 ( 15 years ago )
SUWANEE - Hate symbols and racial epithets greeted members of a Korean church in Suwanee Sunday morning.

Capt. Clyde Byers with the Suwanee Police Department said vandals spray-painted the church van, the dumpster, the pavement and basketball goal outside of Evergreen Presbyterian Church sometime early Sunday morning.

"One of them says something like 'Jesus is dead', there's a swastika on it, and a circle with an 'A' through it," Byers said.

He said he thinks the upside-down crosses, swastikas and anarchy signs are a result of local kids with nothing better to do.

"I don't really think that we had a real political statement to make here," Byers said. "I think a lot of it is just kids acting crazy."

Byers said there are no suspects at this time and an approximate estimate of the damage has not been released.
