DAWSONVILLE -- Dawson County may sparkle a little bit brighter thanks to the elbow grease of local citizens.

Government and Community Affairs Representative Cathy Brooks said more citizens than ever participated in this spring's Great American Clean-Up.

"In Dawson County we had over 5 different projects going and that involved over 200 man hours," said Brooks.

She said citizens competed five different projects including a clean-up at Toto Creek Park, the Steel Bridge, and along the Etowah River.

"We removed approximately 670 pounds of litter, recycled over 250 pounds of phone books and beautified nearly 14 miles of shoreline," said Brooks.

Brooks said even Superior Court Judge Jason Deal joined in the clean up at Devil's Elbow.
