EPD fines DOT over 985, 400 cable barrier work

ATLANTA - Somebody forgot to get state permits for cable barrier work on Georgia 400 and I-985, so one state agency has fined another $62,500 for not filling out a two page form.

The road crews didn't think they needed a permit. The concrete strip for the barriers is only 4 feet wide, but they are several miles long.

The state Environmental Protection Division fined the state Department of Transportation an equal amount for both violations: $31,250.
