BALTIMORE - Maryland native and former Orioles pitching coach Leo Mazzone is still collecting a paycheck and has plenty of free time for golf, fine dining and gardening with his wife.

Yet, Mazzone can't remember ever feeling so useless. The 59-year-old coach says he's dying to get back into baseball.

After a highly successful run with the Atlanta Braves, Mazzone joined the Orioles after the 2005 season. He received a hefty raise and got to work with his best friend, Sam Perlozzo. But Mazzone was fired in October with a year left on his contract, and now he says he regrets ever leaving Atlanta for Baltimore.

Mazzone is living in Roswell, Ga., and says he can be packed in 10 minutes if a big league team offers him a job.
