PENDERGRASS - A tractor-trailer driver escaped serious injury Monday morning when his rig was cut in half by a train in Pendergrass.

State DOT spokesman Paul Marshall said it happened just before 9 a.m. near Atlas Cold Storage.

"The train hit the tractor-trailer and cut it in half," Marshall said.

The road was reopened in about half an hour.

Marshall had no information about the condition of the driver and he did not know what, if anything, the truck was hauling.
