GAINESVILLE - A third candidate entered the race for Hall County Clerk of Courts Wednesday.

Jennifer Gibbs is a CPA who joins former Hall County sheriff Bob Vass and J.C. Smith in what is becoming a crowded field for the Republican Primary.

Also qualifying Wednesday with Hall GOP officials was county school board member Craig Herrington.

On the Democratic side of the ledger, County Commissioner Deborah Mack qualified to run again. Her lone opponent thus far is Ashley Bell, also a Democrat, who signed up Monday.

State Rep. James Mills, (R-Gainesville), picked up a Democratic opponent Wednesday. Christopher Strickland of Flowery Branch qualified for the post. Strickland had announced Tuesday his plans to run. So far, Mills has no GOP opposition.

But state Rep. Charles Jenkins, (D-Blairsville), picked up opposition Wednesday. Stephen Allison of Blairsville qualified to seek the Republican nomination for the post.

Steve Gooch of Dahlonega qualified for the state House seat now held by Amos Amerson, (R-Dahlonega). Gooch plans to run in the Republican Primary. So far, he is the only candidate to qualify for the race.

The state House post being vacated by Ben Bridges, (R-Cleveland), got its first candidate Wednesday. Rick Austin of Demorest signed up for the GOP Primary.
