ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech women's basketball coach MaChelle Joseph agreed to a new four-year, $1.3 million contract after guiding the Yellow Jackets to a second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Joseph has led the school to a number of milestones over the past two years: first NCAA tournament victory, first back-to-back appearances in the tournament, and first consecutive 20-win seasons.

``MaChelle has certainly ratcheted up the program in a number of ways,'' athletic director Dan Radakovich said. ``She and her staff have worked extremely hard in recruiting, coaching and in gaining awareness in the city of Atlanta. This is definitely a program on the rise.''

Joseph has a record of 84-66 in five seasons as head coach.

``We have been given a great opportunity to build something special at Georgia Tech,'' Joseph said. ``We have great kids and an administration that is committed to building a national power in women's basketball.''
