Gainesville's Owings pitches Colorado to big win

DENVER -Arizona's Micah Owings struck out a career best nine hitters and allowed just a run on two hits over six-and-two-thirds innings in an 8-1 win over Colorado.
Mark Reynolds homered and drove in three runs to ruin the defending National League champs' home opener. His two-run double capped a three-run first inning against Rockies starter Mark Redman.
Gainseville High School graduate, Micah Owings retired 17 straight batters after giving up a lead-off double to Willy Tavares in the first inning. Chad Qualls and Juan Cruz completed the two-hitter.
