GAINESVILLE - Gainesville First United Methodist Church's second annual Great Day of Service is Saturday.
Co-chairs for the event, Lynda Askew and LeTrell Simpson, are overseeing the community work day.

During Great Day of Service, more than 800 members of First United Methodist will disperse to organizations, agencies and individual homes throughout the community to see how many lives can be touched in one day. Volunteers will paint, repair, clean, sew, hammer and plant for those in need.

"The 2007 Great Day of Service was a wonderful experience and for the 50 project areas that were served," Simpson said. "On March 29 the church unites and again fills the community with helping hands and giving hearts."
