Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said firefighters responded to a brush fire reported around 1 p.m. by passing motorists along I-85 southbound just north of Highway 20.
"Right now the cause of the fire has not been determined," Rutledge said. "We estimate approximately one and a half to two acres were involved."
Rutlege said the fire was under control by 2 p.m. and the Georgia Forestry was called to cut a fire break around the immediate area.
He said the blaze spread quickly due to steady winds and dry brush conditions.
"Today is a no burn day in Gwinnett County due to red flag warnings by the Georgia Forestry Commission," he said.
Rutledge said no injuries and no immediate exposure hazards were reported.
