ATLANTA - It started out pretty simply.

Gwinnett lawmakers wanted to allow beer sales for Sunday games at the county's new ballpark, due to open next season.

But now, they're backing away from the measure. They say it's because House GOP leaders are trying to jam statewide sales into the bill - something Gwinnett constituents wouldn't support.

The bill's Senate sponsor, Renee Unterman of Buford, told the Gwinnett Daily Post she's not going to ask for the bill as-is.

That might kill the bill for this session.
