GAINESVILLE - Some of the asphalt used in the resurfacing of the main east-west route through Gainesville last year isn't up to par - meaning it's having to be replaced.

The state Department of Transportation said some of the asphalt does not meet DOT standards.

Therefore, as weather permits this week, work crews are going back and redoing the bad places along Jesse Jewell Parkway and Browns Bridge Road from Limestone Parkway to McEver Road.

The work is taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and there will be lane closures, about one-half mile at a time.
