GAINESVILLE - For the second time since Saturday night, a Gainesville taxi cab driver has been robbed.

Lt. Nina Harkins of the Gainesville Police Department said the cabbie, a driver for Taxi El Palmar, picked up three men just after midnight Monday and drove them to a location on West Haven Drive, where he was robbed.

Harkins said the trio took the driver's wallet, hit him in the face and then fled on foot. No weapon was used.

Harkins described the suspects as being in their early 20s. Two of them were black and were wearing dark clothing; the other was Hispanic and was wearing white clothing.

In Saturday night's incident, a driver for the same company was robbed at gunpoint by two men at the BP station on Park Hill Drive. That driver also received minor injuries.
