Gwinnett fire spokesman Tommy Rutledge said the fire occurred about 6 a.m. at Rosehill Plantation Apartments on Sturgeon Road.
He said the fire itself was contained to one unit, but there was smoke and water damage to an adjacent apartment.
Rutledge said two families were displaced and the Red Cross was called in to assist them.
