Trio of pitchers hurls 3-hit shutout for Georgia Tech

ATLANTA - Zack Von Tersch, Kevin Jacob and Taylor Wood combined on a three-hit shutout and Tony Plagman drove in four runs to lead Georgia Tech to a 6-0 victory over Rutgers in the rubber game of a three-game series on Sunday.

It was Tech's fourth shutout this season, doubling its total in the 2007 season.

Von Tersch (1-0) earned his first victory, yielding the three hits while fanning seven and walking two in seven innings. Jacob and Wood each worked a scoreless inning in relief.

Plagman hit a three-run homer to break a scoreless tie in the sixth inning off Matt Gianini (0-2, who gave up four runs on six hits in 5.2 innings.

Plagman added a run-scoring single in the seventh.
