PORTLAND, OREGON - Rich Poythress had three hits and drove in two runs and Georgia chased Oregon State pitcher Jorge Reyes early in a 10-5 win over the Beavers Saturday in the Pape Grand Slam.

Reyes (1-1), the MVP of the College World Series last season, lasted just 2-3 of an inning as the Bulldogs batted around in the first, collecting seven hits and taking a 7-0 lead.

Kraig Sitton relieved Reyes and allowed just three hits in the next 4 1-3, but the damage was done.

Matt Olson knocked in Poythress and Gordon Beckham in the fourth to make it 9-1. The game was delayed for a half hour because of rain and was halted for another 31 minutes in the sixth.

Stephen Dodson (1-1) allowed five hits and three runs in five innings for Georgia, but he left after the rain delay.

Poythress, a sophomore first baseman from Grovetown, Ga., continued his hot hitting for the Bulldogs, going 3-for-5 and running his average up to .529.

The Bulldogs had 12 hits but none for extra bases. Olson had two hits and two RBIs and Ryan Peisel knocked in two.

A crowd of 10,710 attended the game, the second in a three-game series featuring teams who last met in the 2006 College World Series. Oregon State won Friday night 6-4.

John Wallace homered and went 2-for-3 for the Beavers (2-3), who have won the College World Series the past two seasons. Garrett Nash went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in two runs. Daniel Robertson had two hits and a run scored.

The series is being played at PGE Park, home of the Pacific Coast League's Portland Beavers.
