GAINESVILLE - The bankruptcy filing by the developer of a huge "active adult" subdivision on Gainesville's west side is not stopping plans for a shopping center on the site.

The original plans for Seasons at Lake Lanier called for a small shopping center on one corner of the property, at Browns Bridge and McEver roads.

The developer of the subdivision, Levitt and Sons, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November and work was halted on a number of unfinished houses.

But, city planners next month will be asked to approve plans for the shopping center, being developed by Easlan Capital of Atlanta.
