GAINESVILLE - Crews are working to resurface a 10-mile stretch of road on State Route 136 (Price Road) from State Route 400 in Dawson County to State Route 60 (Thompson Bridge Road) in Hall County.

Teri Pope with the Georgia Department of Transportation said work will take place week days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In addition to resurfacing the roadway, crews are adding two-foot wide paved shoulders.

"This is a great safety feature," Pope said, "Because when you run out of the road it gives you a paved surface and room to recover so you can get back in the road safely."

Pope said to be on the lookout for the DOT's pilot car, which will lead drivers through the work zone.

"Know that if you're traveling 136 you could be stopped and you'll have to wait a few minutes for that pilot car," she said.

The $1.8 million project is expected to be finished in November, but Pope said it might be done sooner if the warm weather holds up.
