PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Steve Lowery birdied the first playoff hole to beat Vijay Singh (VEE'-jay sing) at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Singh bogeyed three straight holes on the back nine and needed a birdie on 18 to force the first playoff at Pebble Beach since 1992.

It's the third career victory for Lowery, and his first since the 2000 Southern Farm Bureau Classic. All three of his wins have come in playoffs.

Lowery shot a 4-under-par 68 to make up three shots on Singh in the final round. At 47, he's the oldest winner in the 71-year history of the tournament.

Corey Pavin, Dudley Hart and John Mallinger finished one shot back and one ahead of Jason Day.
Steve Lowery, who closed with a 4-under 68 in Sunday's final round, sank a 7-foot birdie on the first playoff hole for his third career PGA Tour title.
