CUMMING - A suspect in three Forsyth County bank robberies over a recent three week period has been captured.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton, 26-year-old David Ryan Stone was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Thursday at an extended stay motel in Dawsonville.

Paxton said Forsyth County investigators received a tip about 8:30 p.m. Thursday that the suspect in the bank robberies might be staying at the Dawsonville Suites Motel.

With the assistance of deputies from the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, Forsyth County investigators went to the motel and arrested Stone. Stone attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Paxton said that evidence at the scene linked Stone to the robberies. Suspected narcotics were also recovered in Stone's motel room. No weapon was found.

Stone is the primary suspect in the robberies of two Crescent Banks and a branch of Georgia Federal Credit Union.

The arrest of Stone is the culmination of a joint investigation between the Sheriff's Office and the City of Cumming Police Department, Paxton said. The tip came about as a result of a lookout placed on Stone with local media.

Stone is being held without bond at the Forsyth County Jail.
