Perdue announces reductions to Georgia's outdoor watering ban

ATLANTA - Governor Sonny Perdue has announced a reduction on restrictions on outdoor watering in Georgia, particularly on landscaping.<br /> <br /> Perdue said Wednesday that new landscaping may be watered for 30 days during any ten-week period instead of each day for one month only.<br /> <br /> He also says limited hand watering will be allowed on established lawns and gardens this summer.<br /> <br /> The new exemptions will only be granted after completing an online water use program. Perdue made the announcement at the Georgia Agribusiness Legislative Breakfast.<br /> <br /> He says the new plan, relying on the honor system, will give retailers the confidence to stock new landscaping materials and producers the confidence to grow them.<br /> <br /> The governor says it will renew confidence in the strength of Georgia's landscaping industry.<br /> <br /> Perdue is expected to issue an announcement on outdoor swimming pools later Wednesday afternoon.<br />
